Okay okay, so turtle necks get a bad rap—while there are exceptions, this style often conjures up feelings of frumpiness and old elementary school teachers that we didn’t like (or am I the only one for that second part?). But the real question is, have you ever tried mock-necks instead? This sexier cousin of the turtle neck is a much more youthful version, and here are 3 reasons you need to add one (or three) to your summer wardrobe ASAP.
- They look great with all your summer favorites. I own this exact top in three colors (maroon, turquoise, and black) and they’re so easy to throw on and go for a simple yet chic outfit. Pair it with shorts? You betcha. Skirts? Obviously—I love how the black contrasts my red and beige skirt in today’s outfit. These sleeveless mock-neck tops even look great with your maxi skirts and slim pants for a night out. I honestly wish I had bought this top in the other two colors as well!
- Mock-neck tops add a little sexiness and mystery to your outfit. I know what you’re thinking: how could anything covering your neck be spicy at all? But trust me, in this case showing less skin is actually more attractive. It adds that bit of mystery and lets you showcase your arms instead, which can be just as spicy. 😉
- My favorite reason to wear mock-neck tops: sun protection! Your neck and chest is one of the easiest areas to get burned, and as a woman, it shows signs of aging the fastest. There’s no need to subject that sensitive skin to damage when there are sassy mock-necks instead. 🙂 They especially make a vacation favorite for me when I know I’ll be outside all day in the sun. I get ease of mind knowing I won’t roast, and I get to look cute doing it. It’s a win-win.
My favorite way to top off any outfit with a mock-neck top is to layer a pendant necklace. This little piece of jewelry can do big wonders for lengthening your body, making you appear taller, and pulling together your whole look.
Do you own any of these super sassy tops? Do you think you want to now? Mock-necks are definitely one of my favorite summer pieces and are on constant repeat in the warmer months.
Thanks for stopping by today!

Grace
