Memorial Day always feels like the start of summer, with warmer weather, BBQs and yummy foods, and schools getting out (or almost out). People have been asking me for weeks and weeks, “What are your summer plans?” And the truth is, I don’t know yet! I’ve been so busy with school, AP tests, finals, and more school, that I’ve hardly even thought about summer. But now it’s upon us, and this blog post is forcing me to finally plan it out. 🙂

Initially, I wanted to get a job this summer. I’ve never had a job before and I thought it might be time to get on that. However, some people weren’t particularly keen on the idea and want me to enjoy my last real summer instead. They’re certainly not helping my cause! I mean, what can I say? If authority figures want me to relax and enjoy myself this summer, who am I to say no? But I’d love to know from all you teenagers—are you getting a summer job this summer? If so, where are you working? Who knows, I may still find something…but at this point it’s looking doubtful. I realllly wanted to work at my local Francesca’s since I already wear so much of their stuff, but you have to have a year of retail experience to work there! Dang nabbit. Honestly though, it’s probably for the best—I never would’ve made any money otherwise. 😉

I mentioned that I wanted to make a high school scrapbook in my Say No to Senioritis post, and if you’re one of my friends, you’ve been hearing about this infamous scrapbook all four years of high school. 🙂 My goal was to have it completed by my graduation, but alas, school keeps ya busy. So now my plan is to make it this summer. I love scrapbooking and crafts, but it’s been so long since I’ve done it. It’ll be a great summer activity for those days when it’s too hot to spend outside, and I might even continue binging “Pretty Little Liars” while I work. I already gathered a lot of random mementos from the years, and now I just need to print off my photos!

Another thing I plan to do this summer, which I’m not excited about, is learn to drive stick shift…Ugh, I’ve been dreading this, but it needs to be done. It’s just such a useful skill! Can any of you drive stick? Were you nervous to learn? I also want to learn how to cook, but I’ve been saying that for years and years. Hopefully this is the summer I finally make it happen!

Lastly, this summer wouldn’t be complete without dorm room decorating!!! I’ve been planning out my dorm room since the sixth grade, but now that the time has finally come, I don’t remember where I put all those plans…Ha! I’ll be doing all sorts of crafts and organizing, including going through my closet and bedroom before packing all my stuff. I’m planning on doing lots of posts this summer to help all those going off to college in the fall, so stay tuned!

Do you have fun plans for the summer? I’d absolutely love to know! And I’m sure I’ll think of more things. I’m also going to be sitting down and doing some serious planning/brainstorming for the blog. I’ve been feeling a little lost lately, and I want to become super clear on my blog’s mission. Exciting things to come! I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day and take a little time to remember those who have served.

Miles of smiles,
Grace
