Fashionable Fitness Resolutions

With the new year starting, gyms and sidewalks naturally become packed with hopeful people wanting to practice their fitness resolutions. I, too, am one of those people. But how can we stick with our plans? That’s the real struggle. Today I wanted to share a few tips to keep us motivated this winter and beyond. 🙂

Wear cute outfits. Like anything, a cute outfit always makes the situation better. 😉 I’m not generally the type of person who cares that much about what I wear while working out, but feeling a little bit sassy can help you get out the door and towards the gym. For tips on looking cute while exercising, you can check out my back to school exercise post. Clearly, I have a thing for coral!

Mix up your workouts. For me, I generally like to get into a habit of doing the same workout every day. However, that’s a really easy way to get sick of exercising and fall off the bandwagon. Not to mention, varying your workouts can actually help your body a lot also. I think this year I’ll try rotating between running on the greenbelt, biking, and playing tennis (once it warms up a bit!). Another great exercise to try is swimming at your local gym.

Get some tunes going. There’s nothing like a killer playlist to get you in the mood to burn some calories! I have a very eclectic taste in music, so my fast-paced playlist would include some Pink, Counting Crows, Great Big Sea, Maroon 5, The Script, and The Fray. What does your playlist include?

Grab a buddy. For those days when you really just can’t, find a friend to get you through. Working out always goes faster when you have someone with whom to talk and share misery. I like to come home from school and run with my mom and relive my day for her class by class. Even if it’s really boring, talking keeps us busy and our bodies off the pain they’re enduring.

How do you stick to your fitness resolutions? Do you have any tips that always work for you? I’d love to know and share them! I’m not really into just wearing leggings/running tights, so I layered a tennis skirt over these pants. Is that weird? I’m still deciding.

Thanks for stopping by today—here’s to a productive week!

Miles of smiles,

Grace
