I’m so happy it’s Friday!! I’ve been super tired this week. You ever have those weeks where you’re super unproductive and just count down the days to the weekend so you can sleep? Yah, that’s me. And I’ve just felt really inspired lately in regard to the blog, which makes it hard to focus on anything else. But today, I am sharing something I’ve never talked about before—nail polish. Specifically, I’m discussing why nicer nail polish is worth the splurge. I didn’t believe it either at first, but now I’m totally convinced!
I love painting my nails, and while I don’t get around to doing it very often (it just takes so long!), I always enjoy that extra pop of color. I used to just buy whichever nail polish was $3 or cheaper in the color I liked, or I often received small sample bottles as gifts/stocking stuffers. I never really used to notice globby nail polish or a bad applicator; to me, color was color, no matter how it got on my nails. After trying OPI nail polish for the first time though, my eyes were opened. I could never go back to the world of cheap polish!
I know, I know, this blog is all about affordable options. And here I’m telling you to splurge (and by splurge, I mean $10–whoa). But YES! It really is worth the few extra dollars, and here’s why:
-the polish will last way longer in the bottle
-the color will last way longer on your nails
-you’ll be way less frustrated while actually painting because the polish doesn’t clump
-ultimately, you’ll save time because nicer polishes often require less coats AND you don’t have to fix those awkward smears on your fingers because the applicator stinks
I painted my nails with this pretty red color—“Red-y to Glow” by Sally Hansen Color Therapy—late on Saturday night. Here I am, Friday, and still completely chip-free. How awesome is that?! Side note: I love clever nail polish names, and this red will look great for the upcoming holiday season.
I have always loved Sally Hansen nail polish. Even the cheap bottles are actually really good, and they come in so many colors. This particular red applied so smoothly and easily. I actually only did one coat and it still looked really good and mostly even. I asked for new nail polish for my birthday, and I got this color, an eggplant shade, one called “Therapewter”, and a light pink, all in the same Color Therapy line. I’m so excited to try out the other colors!
I wore this outfit on Tuesday to school. Aren’t the piercings on my sweater from Scout and Molly’s Boutique super cute?? My mom likes them because she thinks it’ll prevent me from piercing my face! Haha. Also, didn’t you think the pictures of me awkwardly trying to model my hands looked really good? Yah, that’s what I thought. 😉
I hope you enjoyed this nail post—would you like more in the future?—and have a great weekend!
Miles of smiles,
