Hey y’all! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Once again, it came and went very quickly. Lucky for me though, I only have a three day week. 😉

Lately my face has been breaking out really bad for some unknown reason, so I thought I would share a few tricks for getting clearer skin. I have tried a LOT of face washes over the years, and these are a few steps you can take right now to immediately start seeing less breakouts without having to pay a fortune on fancy face washes or medications. Here we go!

Stop Drinking Milk. I used to be a big milk drinker—I loved a tall glass after a workout and drank it basically every morning with my cereal. Then my mom told me that milk can sometimes cause breakouts, so I stopped drinking it for a week to try it out…Boy what a difference did that make! My face cleared up so much. I don’t know what it is, but dairy products in general tend to cause acne. Now I only drink milk in moderation and try to drink water all the time. Seriously, if you cut out all other drinks besides water, your face WILL get better! I haven’t been the best at this lately so I think that may be a cause of my breakouts.

Change Your Pillow Case. You should be changing your pillow case at least once a week. Oils from your face and hair build up on it overtime, and when you sleep/rest your face against the pillow case, it can cause pimples. This is a simple thing to do, you just have to get into the habit of changing it regularly.

Tie Your Hair Back When You Sleep. Similar to the step above, your hair, especially if you don’t wash it every day (like me), can transfer a lot of oil straight onto your face. It’s best to put it in a braid or tie it back away from your face as you sleep so that it doesn’t come into constant contact with your skin.

Another quick thing to consider if you’re having breakouts is what products you’re using—not only on your face, but just in general. If you recently switched shampoos, for example, and are now noticing an increase in breakouts (especially around your hairline), then it’s probably you’re shampoo.

I wore this outfit on Saturday to go shopping and then watch my brother’s soccer game. I’m not sure why these photos turned out so grainy, but sorry about that.

I hope you enjoyed this post! It’s my first skincare/beauty kind of post but I feel like acne treatment and tips are always useful information. Have a wonderful Monday!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. I’ve definitely heard about milk breaking you out, but not your hair. This was a super helpful tip! I love your outfit in this post as well. Thank you for sharing!

  2. So, I loved your outfit and the photos were super cute! I especially loved you talking on the gourd “phone” Lol. I’m, thankfully, past the worries of acne, although I had a terrible time in my teens. I will tell you a great tip I learned long ago – yogurt. Plain, unsweetened yogurt applied 2 – 3 times a week like a mask. Leave it on until it dries, then wash off with warm water. The probiotics in the yogurt help destroy the acne-causing bacteria! My kids did this when they were teens and it works great! Your suggestions were great – I hadn’t heard about milk, but the pillowcase and hair at night are really good ideas!

    1. Thanks so much Leila! What a great tip–I’ve never heard of using yogurt before, but I’ll definitely have to try it! And yes, of course I had to call my bestie on my gourd phone haha 😉
