B2S Series: My Morning Routine

Are you sick of the Back to School Series yet?? I’m sick of the “back to school” part for sure…But today and Friday are the last days for this (what my stats say) very popular series. Today, I’m taking you behind the scenes and telling you step by step what I do in the morning—or at least, what I should do in an ideal world. So basically, this is my routine the first month of school while I still have motivation and time, but after that…Who’s to say.

** Wake up at 6:00 to a blaring, beeping alarm. I’ve tried waking up to music before,  but it has to be some super obnoxious noise, otherwise it doesn’t work. I generally spend a minute or two in bed, trying to pry my eyes open and not fall back asleep.

** Make my bed (ideally). Spend some time petting my super cool shark pillow that has reversible sequins.

** Eat breakfast. Usually I either have a bagel with cream cheese, cereal, a yogurt parfait, or frozen waffles with tons of syrup (can’t get healthier than that). I generally look at my phone during this time, or do all the studying/last minute homework I was supposed to do the night before.

** Make my lunch. I like to take leftovers from the previous night’s dinner and heat it up at school. This saves a lot of time and a lot of laziness because I hate making sandwiches bright and early in the morning. (Side note: before I started eating leftovers, I’d basically have a snack lunch every day because I was just too lazy to make a real sandwich.) The only issue with this—waiting in line with 20 other people for the only microwave at my school that actually works.

** Floss and brush those pearly whites. Gotta impress the dentist. 😉 I like to watch Instagram stories while I brush so I have some entertainment, but this almost always results in my dripping toothpaste on my night clothes.

** Wash my face just with warm water. I save my acne regimen for my nighttime routine.

** Put on some sunscreen. I know it sucks now, but I promise it will pay off later! I like to wear Coppertone Oil Free Faces because it doesn’t give me pimples and it doubles as a moisturizer (for my skin, at least). I have tried a lot of face sunscreens over the years, but this is the only one I’ve found that doesn’t make me break out.

** Pick out an outfit! I try to lay out all my outfits before the week starts—I even have cute little shelves labeled with the weekdays—but it’s the first week of school and I haven’t done that so…I guess I’m already behind. Picking out an outfit generally takes so long though. It’s because I wait to do the laundry until I have no clean clothes left. This means I often have an outfit planned in my head, only to find one (or more) of the items at the bottom of my dirty clothes bin.

** Do my hair. You can check out my hair tutorials in this post or some fun ways to style a flower crown in this post. Sometimes this takes even longer than picking out an outfit because I change my mind multiple times (or am just having a bad hair day).

** Doll up. I’m kidding—I don’t like to wear makeup, so I generally just use an eyelash curler and some chapstick/lip gloss. And of course I can’t forget a spritz from my favorite perfume!

** Gather my bags, which I packed the night before. Translation: scramble around for ten minutes trying to gather all my crap, wishing I had packed up stuff the night before.

** And off I go at 7:00 AM!

What did you think of today’s post? I know it’s kind of weird, but I always love reading about other people’s routines. But then again, I’m just weird like that. Also, I’m pretty sure I could get ready in only half an hour, but I dink around a lot. And take naps after breakfast sometimes.

I’m off to my second day of school! Wish me luck, and have an awesome Wednesday!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

P.S. I wore this outfit to lunch and then the craft store to shop for some beads.

  1. Very cute outfit! I’m super impressed with how early you get up! Of course, I’m self-employed, so no one makes me get up early. Hehe. I usually stretch as soon as I get up, brush my teeth, maybe go for a run if the weather’s nice. Then I shower, do my hair (which just means put in some product and scrunch…). My makeup routine is about as spare as yours unless I’m gonna post some crazy makeup look. I always pick my clothes out the night before. Since I started using a capsule wardrobe, it’s easy to see exactly what I have available (clean!). Anyway, thanks for the great post. I’m gonna keep reading!

    1. Thanks so much for the comment, Leila! I like that you stretch when you wake up, I really need to get into stretching haha. I’ve always thought capsule wardrobes are cool! I’ll have to try one sometime. 🙂
