Happy 4th of July Eve! Do you have your outfit planned for tomorrow yet? Even though I did four posts about 4th of July looks, I still don’t know what I’m going to wear, haha. Anyway, today I’ll be discussing my top 5 summer accessories, as well as an amazing art exhibit, so stay tuned!

These accessories are listed in no particular order, but they are pieces that I reach for again and again in the summertime.

This guy is my new best friend

The Gold Stud Bracelet. I have been reaching for my $10 Nordstrom Rack bracelet so much lately (it’s on my left hand in this post). I just love studs, and the gold matches a lot of the hardware on my belts and purses. Plus, the small amount of studs and sparkles add the perfect amount of edge to an otherwise plain look.

Even though this pic is dark, check out the amazing Chihuly glass behind me!

The Panama Hat. Ok, how do you take photos in a hat without having your face super shady? Is that possible? I mean, some might think I’m a shady person, but that doesn’t mean I have to look like one in photos… 😉 Anyway, this hat hasn’t appeared that often on the blog but I love to wear it in the summer because it provides extra sun protection on my face and covers gross sweaty hair. Plus, it looks super cute with boho and edgy outfits.

The Aviator Sunglasses. I’m not a big sunglasses person. Even though I think they’re super cute, I always forget to wear them. I’m trying to change that this summer and I keep reaching for these aviators from Icing as a result. Like the panama hat, they go with all my boho and edgy outfits, which are the styles I lean towards in the summer months. Plus, they’re crazy affordable!

The Rings. I’m not wearing any rings in this post, but stacking up dainty jewelry on your fingers (and toes!) is a great way to add some pizzazz to your outfits. I always think it’s hard to create a super stylish outfit in hot weather since you can’t layer and you focus on wearing as little clothing as possible. That’s what jewelry is for—it adds no extra heat but adds lots of extra style. So stack on all those tiny rings! You’ll be glad you did. 🙂

The Ankle Bracelet. Like the rings and gold stud bracelet, adding an anklet brings your outfit up a few notches and makes you look so sassy. They’re fun for the summer time and can really tie a look together. Plus, it’s a great way to incorporate all those bracelets that are too big for your wrist…I’ve got a lot of those.

That’s a gorilla, in case you couldn’t tell. I think I should get paid for promoting the new War for the Planet of the Apes movie because I could totally be that young blonde girl who the apes are trying to save… Just saying.

I wore this outfit for a day of exploring downtown Tacoma, Washington, as well as the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium. It was pretty warm, but I didn’t want to get sunburned, so that’s why I kept the jacket on. Otherwise, this outfit is perfect for scorching hot days.

That bird is obviously rocking my hat…

Shop Your Closet: Ok, last thing for today. This turned out to be a pretty long post! Items to search for in your own closet to recreate this look: black t-shirts, black blouses, white t-shirts/camisoles, khaki shorts, eyelet shorts, military jackets, military or anorak style vests, straw or raffia hats, plain brown or black sandals, Birkenstocks, any crossbody bags, and dainty jewelry.

The art you see above is part of an exhibit called Washed Ashore, and a team of artists (or should I say a teem of artists? Wink wink) creates huge works of art out of trash they find in the ocean and on beaches. When you look closely at the art, you can spot specific items such as sand toys, shot gun shells, and even microwaves. It’s really sad to see how much trash goes into our oceans, but the art is also really amazing. You can learn more about the exhibit and how you can help by clicking here.
