Work Dress for the Win

Good morning! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was spent studying, but at least I only have five more days of school! So excited. Do any of you have fun summer plans?

I thought I’d share some ideas for how to style a work dress for the weekend/casual wear. I wore this look to school last Thursday, but it’d be super cute for going out to dinner. I last wore this dress here in a work appropriate look, so I wanted to mix it up this time. 🙂 Let’s get started with some tips!

Swap out your blazer for a different kind of jacket. Instead of wearing your favorite black blazer for the office, switch it up and wear a playful bomber jacket, denim jacket (a white jean jacket would look adorable with this dress!), or anorak to add more of a casual vibe.

Rock some sandals. I feel like you can’t get more casual than a pair of nice sandals. Put away those fancy flats and heels for the time being. 😉

Throw your hair up (or down). However you wear your hair to work—whether it be a bun or down with curls—mix it up and try something completely different. I loved doing this milkmaid braid style! Another fun idea to change your outfit from work to play is to add a cute floppy hat or headscarf.

Add a pendant necklace. I don’t know why, but something about long pendant necklaces just seems more weekend-ish to me. Short necklaces seem more corporate—like a strand of pearls—but a long stone pendant or locket like mine seem more playful. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Those were my four simple tips for turning a work dress into a more casual look. What do you do to make your favorite corporate dress more weekend appropriate? Have you ever used any of these tips before? I’d love to know in the comments!

Have a great rest of your Monday and thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Miles of smiles,

Grace
