So you have a party/wedding/banquet/other event coming up and you don’t know what to wear, but you do know you want to stand out in the crowd. I mean, who doesn’t? Lucky for you, I have some tips for how to come up with a unique outfit for that special event. Just keep reading! *Cues Dory’s swimming song*

Wear a print. I suggest wearing a print, like the fun abstract/tie-dye-esque one in today’s dress. Most people tend to wear solids because they’re easier to style, or they go for florals because hello spring! But picking something with a pattern will automatically set you apart.

Rock some fun jewelry. Did you notice my ring? Wearing costume jewelry instead of delicate fancy jewelry will add another dimension to your outfit. Try long earrings, ear jackets, bangles/cuffs, or a statement necklace (depending on the neckline of your top). Big jewelry always makes a statement!

Add a belt. Jazz up your dress with a belt. Adding this small touch both makes your dress different from how it came off the rack and makes your outfit super flattering. Be sure to add it at your natural waist, as this highlights the smallest part of your figure and makes your legs look longer.

Do something with your hair. So many girls just curl their hair with a wand and call it good…I urge you try something new with your hair! Switch up how you curl it, pin parts of it back, braid some of it, add hair accessories…There are so many ways to make your hair unique. Have fun experimenting!

Incorporate metallics. Metallics are so trendy right now, but they also act as a staple since they’re neutral. Add small hints of silver, gold, or rose gold to show you’re an it-girl but also are a trendsetter yourself. You’ll be so stylish. 😉 I highly recommend these shoes by the way—they go with everything and they’re super comfy/easy to walk in!

That’s it for my tips! Oh, you can also experiment with your makeup. I don’t usually wear makeup, but I tried out some blue eyeliner with this outfit (not pictured). It turned out so pretty!

I wore this outfit to my art show last weekend. It took a lot of outfit tries and consultation with my parents to land on this look. But I absolutely loved it! And it was perfectly artsy/unique for the event.

I hope you all had a great weekend! Good luck on this Monday. Ahh, Mondays…
