I think I should’ve become a movie star so I could wear gorgeous dresses during awards season! I’m actually a terrible actress (I took drama once), so maybe I’ll just become friends with someone famous and they can bring me to all the shows. 😉 Nonetheless, I thought it would be fun to round up some of my favorite dresses from the awards season and some similar dresses on a budget. I don’t go to fancy events very often but I do have prom coming up, so that’s my excuse to wear a long dress. A lot of the dresses are short though so you can wear them to dinner parties, on New Year’s Eve, or for a formal dance.
I realized there’s a theme will all these stars’ dresses—they’re all old fashioned and all have beading! What can I say, I love sparkles and the 20s. If you need proof, check out my Halloween costume here. The dresses I rounded up are all from either Nordstrom Rack (my favorite place for inexpensive but still fancy dresses) or Dillard’s.
I wish Emma Stone’s dress was a different color—I personally don’t think the light color looks very good on her fair skin, and this dress wouldn’t look good on me for the same reason. But it is still a gorgeous dress, even if the color is eh. I love the vintage style and even though it kind of resembles a lamp shade, it is very pretty.

Eighty dollars seems like a lot, but for a dress like this and compared to the original price, it’s a steal! This dress has a lot of similar beading and the same dropped waist as Emma’s dress. Perfect for prom or a gala.

This dress doesn’t look like much online, but I have a feeling it would be really pretty in person. And it’s less fancy so you could wear it for more events. It still has that 20s style though with the lace and sheer overlay.
I don’t know about the black belt, but I love the silver and beading of this vintage style dress, especially those dangling things on the sleeves!

This dress isn’t super similar, but again, it’s a steal and has the same beading and Gatsby style.

I love this dress. It’s so simple but still fancy, and the t-length is perfect. It’s also old fashioned yet also modern, which I love.
I feel like Jessica Chastain needs to push her sleeves up just a smudge, but I loved the simplicity and asymmetric beading of this dress. It just screams “spring” to me. I had a hard time finding anything similar though.

I picked this pretty champagne colored dress because of the off-the-shoulder sleeves and sparkles. The color wouldn’t look great on me, but I still love it.

I picked this dress because of the asymmetric beading. It’s pretty and subtle. I would say you have to be careful with this dress because it’s pretty shapeless; it’d be best to try it on in stores to see how it lays.
More beading! I love the t-length and the sheer sleeves. So classy and elegant.

This dress lacks in the sparkly department, but that’s nothing the right accessories couldn’t fix. It’s spot on in the length though, as well as the neckline (even if it doesn’t have similar sleeves).

This dress also comes in black and I picked it because of the sleeves. It’s also less fancy, so you’d have more occasions to wear it.
I hope you enjoyed this round up! I certainly loved finding all these dresses. Let me know if you liked this post. 🙂
