Beginnings of Bold

Happy Wednesday! Half way through the week already…We can do this. This is kind of random but I’ve been meaning to say it: I really wish that I could post on the blog every day; there are so many more outfits that I wear that will probably never appear on the blog, and I’m always full of ideas for posts. Realistically though, I just do not have time right now to post every day. But I will keep striving for that goal and can hopefully make it come true eventually!

Now onto the outfit. I’m kind of intrigued by this look: it’s bold, but it’s not because the colors are super bright and in your face (which in my mind often correlates with “boldness”). It’s still an interesting color combo and something that one might not think to try, but the colors are very muted (and earthy tones again, like from Monday’s post).

Does anyone out there watch the TV show “The Mindy Project”? I just recently discovered it, and now I absolutely love it and everything about Mindy Kaling. (The show is really funny, but Mindy also has such a great sense of style!) She’s always pairing really crazy colors and pieces together in interesting ways. I feel so inspired to try new combos in my closet after watching her show. Anyways, my mom said this outfit reminded her of Mindy, and you should really watch the show if you don’t already. 🙂

I’m not really sure what tips I can give regarding this outfit because it really was a complete experiment for me (which I ended up loving!!). I would say, however, that this was an easy outfit to ease into dressing more boldly, since, like I said, it’s not super “in your face”. So I guess if you’re trying to bring your style to the next level, or at least find new color combos in your own closet, try something unexpected like this medium brown and burgundy, turquoise and a light aqua, or yellow and this same shade of brown.

Thanks for stopping by today! What are some interesting color combos that you’ve tried in the past?
