Happy Monday! I hope you all are having a nice day so far. While there’s still snow on the ground, it’s sunny out and the birds are chirping—it feels like spring! I don’t want to get myself too excited though…We still have a long way to go.

I’ve worn a very similar outfit to this before (not on the blog) with different accessories. This one I wore to school, which was super comfy but still cute. It also makes for great weekend wear or a good travel outfit. What I love about this outfit though is that it’s so easy to recreate; a white tank top, black jeans, denim top, and military jacket are pretty generic items that you either already have in your closet or could easily find at a lot of stores. Then you have the freedom to accessorize with fun shoes or scarves based on what you already have in your own closet.

I bought this military jacket many years ago at Nordstrom Rack on sale and it was a huge leap out of my comfort zone. I wasn’t sure if I’d actually wear it or have anything to go with it, but since it was so inexpensive, I decided to try it. This was before military jackets became all the rage. It turned out to be one of my most worn items! I pair it over almost everything to “toughen” a look up. I haven’t been wearing it a lot recently, but it’s still one of my favorites.

I think this outfit works because of the colors. They’re basically all neutrals—black, denim, white, brown, and even the army green, which can go with a lot. The colors are also “earth tones” which is just what it sounds like—muted colors that resemble those you would find in nature, like dark greens, mustards, browns, greys, maroons, etc. So if you’re in a rush and don’t know what to wear (like I was when I put on this outfit) try reaching for earth tones, which naturally go well together.
