First Purchase

Happy Friday! I’m sure it’s been a long week for most. Unfortunately, most of these pictures turned out really dark, and I’m pretty bummed. I absolutely love this outfit so it’s too bad that you can’t really see it! Just so you know, the pants are black, as well as the boots.

This jacket was my first purchase ever from Francesca’s many years ago (one of my favorite stores). I can’t believe it still fits! And I’m not entirely sure why I bought it…Back then I didn’t have nearly the same sense of style I have today, and I wasn’t even into fashion that much. But this coat is still one of my favorites!

The above picture depicts its true color—a gorgeous cobalt blue. I love the pop of color in the winter, and it looks so pretty against the white of the snow.

That’s a cold face above. I was freezing! In this outfit, I wanted the coat to be the star, but I also didn’t want the look to be boring. Adding the other pieces in similar shades (black, white/cream) added interest to the outfit but still allowed the bright blue of the coat to be the focal point. This idea works for most statement pieces—create the rest of the outfit around the statement piece, in a set of similar, usually more muted colors.

Is it a winter wonderland where you live right now? I’d love to know, and how you stay stylish in the cold weather! Leave a comment below. 🙂

Miles of smiles,
