From Summer to Fall

Once school starts, I’m ready for it to be fall. The [school] summer has ended, and now I’m okay with the hot weather ending as well. I LOVE fall fashion (who doesn’t?) plus there’s just something that can’t be beat about a crisp autumn day. Unfortunately, it’s still very hot where I live and will remain that way through most of September. This then begs the question, how can I transition my summer clothes to fall? That’s what this post is all about. 🙂

I started by making a base for both my summer and fall outfit—this fun flowy boho blouse (last seen here) and some teal jewelry, since I wanted to draw from the colors in the pattern.

For the summer look, I paired it with my favorite neutral shorts, some mint sandals to fit the theme, and a small mustard clutch from Compass Rose (discussed in Monday’s post). Almost any blouse that has a lighter or flowy fabric, and no long sleeves, can be turned into a summer top with the help of some shorts, sandals, and minimal accessories.

For the fall look, I pulled more from the brown hues of the top and added this cognac purse (I won it in a giveaway on this awesome blog) and beige fringe booties. I topped it off with a denim jacket for those cooler fall days. The best way to transition your favorite summer top is to pair it with your most reliable pants—whether that be skinny jeans or black pants like mine–and a thin layer on top, like a bomber jacket, anorak, jean jacket, or open-front cardigan. Fall is the perfect time to start using your heavier accessories, so add on some booties, chunky scarves, or big purses!

Which outfit do you like more, the summer or the fall version? I think I’d have to say fall, but I might be biased since I’m so excited for the new season. 🙂

Have a super chill day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Miles of smiles,

Grace

  1. I like both, but the fall one is my favourite! I love how you were able to transition the piece and create two completely different looks.
